A reminder to all parents using the school Drop and Go / Pick up Zone on Gordon Street to please assist in ensuring the traffic flow on Gordon Street is not obstructed, and that a clear flow of traffic through the zone can be maintained at all times. This ensures safety to students, community members and drivers.
The Drop and Go Pick up Zone is a designated 2 Minute Loading Zone between the hours of 7 to 9am and 2 to 4pm. This zone is a Redland City Council traffic control zone and is enforced by the council.
School staff are there to assist available students to be ready and get into vehicles quickly. We are not there to manage drivers. We do this voluntarily to assist in managing a challenging situation and to ensure student safety. Staff supervise the pick up zone from 2:55pm - 3:15pm. No vehicle should be in the zone for more than two minutes and under no circumstances should drivers be parking and leaving their vehicle.
If you have entered the zone and your child is not immediately available to get into your car, you are expected to pull out and move on before returning to the zone to allow other vehicles to move through the zone. This can be done by doing a loop around the two roundabouts on Gordon Street or doing the block around the school.
Any driver whose vehicle is in any part of the zone for more than two minutes risks receiving a substantial fine from the Redland City Council. If the zone is already full as you approach, please do not queue along Gordon Street as this blocks traffic. Rather, you are expected to drive past and return to the zone as described above. While we appreciate that this can be frustrating, it is something that can be easily managed if parents are willing to display our TOPS values while collecting children.
It is your responsibility as drivers to show OWNERSHIP of your actions and be SENSITIVE to the needs of other drivers and local residents. It is our responsibility to work together as a TEAM and PARTICIPATE according to the road rules to ensure all are safe and respected. It is not acceptable to expect others to have to bear the burden of our choices.
